If These Scars Could Talk: A creative writing workshop for breast cancer survivors.
This four-week workshop combines writing prompts and simple art projects to express the journey through breast cancer and the ways it deeply impacts and changes us. Though creative writing is the container, the course is also an opportunity for survivors to gather in community and share experiences.

Online, delivered via Zoom.
Sliding scale $40-$100 for 4 weeks. Pay what you’re able.

This workshop is open to breast cancer survivors of all writing levels. The workshop is also for survivors of all gender expressions.

While this workshop is not a replacement for mental health therapy, and the facilitator is not a licensed therapist, we will share our experienced in a supportive community.

ALLI MARSHALL (SHE/HER)
Alli Marshall is a breast cancer survivor. She underwent a double mastectomy to aesthetic flat closure in September 2025. She’s a proud flattie and is adjusting to her new shape with curiosity and gratitude (some days more gracefully than others).
She’s also a spoken-word artist, writer, multi-disciplinary creator, and a certified Inward & Artward facilitator. She’s deeply interested in creative practice and the connection to creative source, and much of her work seeks to encourage others toward creative purpose.
Alli is the author of the novel How to Talk to Rockstars and the chapbook The Persephone Project; the writer and performer of the one-woman stage shows The Oracle of Everything and Sweet Heart / Bitter Heart, plus the collaborative performances Flyer in a Dark Chamber and The Top Ten Super Powers of All Time; and she created the immersive art experience Speed Dating with Trees.
Alli received an MFA in poetry from Goddard College. She was named “artist who pushed the boundaries of storytelling” at the 2021 Asheville Fringe Arts Festival and won the Thomas Wolfe Fiction Prize in 2016. She was a recipient of the Pentaculum invitational artist’s residency at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, a Regional Artist Project Grant through Asheville Area Arts Council, and a UNC Asheville Ramsey Library Community Author Award.
